Staring Into the Digital Abyss
This is a modern day phenomenon. It is something you will see everywhere you look. People, more specifically teenagers, staring blankly at cell phone screens. In restaurants, in school, at work, during church, everywhere. Cell phones have become the technological equivalent of cigarettes. Most cannont go more than a few minutes, let alone hours, without using or looking at their phones. My aim with this series was to capture this phenomenon in the form of candid portraiture. In the images presented here, you will see teenagers zoning out of reality, avoiding social confrontation, and staring into the digital abyss.
